DIY New Beginnings Mantel

December 31, 2013

Hello!  I hope you are having a fabulous last day of 2013!! Can you believe a New Year is already here?  Yesterday I took down all my Christmas stuff and my house felt so bare.  I wanted to decorate my mantel with something I could keep up until I decorate for Valentines day.  So, I decided to make a New Beginnings Mantel.  Let me show you what I did!

Everything I used in my mantel that I purchased was purchased at Michael’s for 80% off! Score! I LOVE a bargain.  I purchased a gold garland that I used as the base of my mantel.  Once that was placed on the mantel I added a few picks that I picked up to add texture to it and make it a little thicker.
I purchased the vase for $3.50 and added 3 picks to it.  I had the glass jar next to it and filled it with various sizes of gold ornaments that I snagged out of my Christmas decor.  I purchased the gold charger and cut some vinyl out in one of my favorite verses.  Isaiah 43:19, “Behold, I am doing a NEW THING!”  I LOVE to keep positive messages in front of my eyes so with a New Year and God doing a New Thing  I chose that verse.
I had 2 wooden candle sticks that I had purchased at Goodwill that I spray painted with gold hammered paint.  I used a couple gold glitter candles that I picked up new at Good will for .99.  The other candle holder was a glass dollar store one I had that I added a coat of hammered paint.   I found downstairs in my stash the gold butterfly.  There you have it my New Beginnings Mantel!

Thanks for all your support this year, I am very grateful!  May God bless you with New Beginnings by doing a New Thing for you this year.
