Quick & Easy Strawberry Freezer Jam

July 9, 2013 By Barb Camp 9 Comments

In Michigan strawberry season just ended but my husband and I were lucky enough to get some picking done during the last week.  Our freezer needed to be restocked with jam so I thought I’d share with you how we did it.
To make strawberry freezer jam you need:
4 cups of strawberries
4 cups of sugar
1 pack of Sure Jel
Sterilized jars and lids
Food Processor
Ladle
Funnel
To begin you need take the stems off the berries and slice in half.  Add 4 cups of strawberries to the food processor and puree.
Pour berries into a bowl and add 4 cups of sugar.  Stir and let the mixture sit for 10 min.
When the strawberry sugar mixture has sat for about 8 min.  Take your Sure Jel and add it to a pan with 3/4 cup of water and bring to a boil, stirring for one minute.  Pour your Sure-Jel into your bowl of strawberries and stir for 3 min.  I forgot to take a picture of this step. Sorry!
After you have stirred 3 min. you are ready to ladle the jam into your sterilized jars.  Add your lids and rings.
Let them sit on the counter for 24 hours before adding them to the freezer.
Don’t forget to enjoy their beauty while they are sitting!
One thing I love about canning//freezing food is that you get to enjoy the fruit of your labor for a whole year, unlike cleaning the house or laundry.
Do you do any canning/freezing?
