Easy Organizing Tips for Crafters

DIY projects are great; not only does creating something yourself typically cost much less than buying it at the store, but you end up with gorgeous new decorative or functional pieces for your home. If you’ve ever attempted a DIY project at home, though, you’re probably aware of one minor downfall: craft projects are messy and craft supplies can get cluttered fast!
To keep your house looking a little cleaner during your next homemade endeavor, use the following simple home organization ideas to keep your beads, ribbon and other crafting supplies in order:

Store frequently-used supplies in small containers such as mason jars and keep them stashed on a portable caddy. Keeping the containers in shower caddies or breakfast trays is an easy, portable way to transfer supplies between rooms.

·         Say goodbye to boxes of tangled string and use rods to keep your ribbon, paper and other rolled items knot-free. Shower rods can be fitted into closets, bookshelves and other dressers, or try sticking rods in between the holes in your laundry basket. Alternatively, if you’re a knitter, store your yarn in a colander and pull the string ends through the holes to avoid tangled messes.

·         If you have piles of loose scrapbook paper, sticker sheets or ribbon scraps cluttering your craft area, invest in a simple binder filled with plastic sleeves, like the kind you might use for recipes or scrapbooking. You can use dividers to make it simple to locate certain items in a heartbeat.

·         Weekly pill planners are good for more than just keeping track of your meds; they’re also perfect for storing tiny beads! Keep different kinds of beads in different sections for thrifty, simple organization.
·         Labeling craft drawers, bins and boxes makes locating supplies incredibly simple. Handwritten labels are easiest, but taking a picture of a drawer’s contents is another good way to figure out what’s inside with just a glance.
·         Use a kitchen spice rack to easily organize small bottles of paint and glue. Spice racks are the perfect way to stack items like these, and they make for a nice presentation, too.
