My Back to School Organization!

July 24, 2012

On Saturday I did a post on Back to School Organization .  I showed different ideas and shared things I liked and I said I’d be back to show you the ideas I incorporated into my home.  Well, I’m back……..  I’m here to show you my Command Center/Homework Station.

My command/homework station is in my kitchen.

1.  I found this white board at Goodwill.  It was brand new from JoAnn Fabrics.  Retail 19.95 that I bought for 1.99. It had a peel able sticker on the edges so I covered it with scrap booking paper and added ric rac and a big orange flower.
2. I bought a piece of metal sheeting at Lowe’s for 6.00.  I added orange ric rac to the bottom and took scrap booking embellishments and glued them to magnets.  I had some days of the week magnets that I added to the board.
3.  Is just a normal cork board that I added ric rac stripes down the right hand side and made fabric flowers and glued to the board.
4.  I found these bins at JoAnn fabrics last year.  One for each boy. I can use them to put in random paper

I took another piece of sheet metal and added Velcro to the back and attached it to the wall.  I gathered things that we consistently need for homework and added either Velcro or magnets to them as well as using round silver magnetic hooks which I spray painted orange, green and two shades of blue. I have index boxes in the small blue box.  I also have colored pencil in the fun chevron case.  Now, I think I have every thing I need handy and accessible for the boys to use.  I just hope we can keep everything in their new home!!
