Before I share my Praying for you Husband Prayer Cards, I have to share with you how powerful praying for your husband is and how satan does NOT want us women praying for our men. He knows how prayer can change him. He also knows how easy it is to get us sidetracked and keeping us so distracted we forget to pray.
When I do my life lesson blog posts I almost always pray and ask God what He wants me writing about. God had given me this topic as well as the title. My husband and I were going to be making a long trip to Ann Arbor to visit a friend in the hospital. I like to work in the car, it makes the long drive manageable So I pack up everything I would need to work in the car. Within 5 minutes in the car we are in a fight and I don’t mean a little fight. I threw the biggest hissy fit saying things I NEVER should have. Now you have to know this is not normal for us. It used to be but we rarely have a fight like we had.
After the fight when I was cooling down and the Lord was convicting me the Holy Spirit brought to my mind what my job was for the morning- a blog post on praying for your husband. Oh crud! There was no condemnation but He is teaching me to be alert and see how sneaky satan is and to be aware of the triggers he’s using. You can read more about that in my blog post on Satan’s Weapons that he uses against us. As I thought back I could see how he started getting me worked up the night before. I wish I could have a redo and see the things I see now but that’s not possible! But God’s mercies are new every morning so I am receiving that mercy and grace and starting fresh today. OK, now for our regularly scheduled post. 🙂
Do you pray for your husband daily? I do, half- heatedly. I really want to be more intentional. The thought came to me that if I’m not praying for him intentionally and specifically, chances are he’s not being prayed for and honestly that scares me! My family needs to be covered in prayer and I need to be doing it on-purpose daily. This scripture spurs me to be intentional:
Look carefully then how you walk! Live purposefully and worthily and accurately, not as the unwise and witless, but as wise (sensible, intelligent people), Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. Eph. 5:15,16
So I thought I’d share with you the areas I’m going to be focusing on. I need to have a plan when I pray. It helps me be intentional. Here are some prayers I wrote based on Revive our hearts 31 days to praying for your husband. I made cards that I can print out and punch a hole in and put in my purse. I love to be able to get the cards out and pray in times I might find frustrating. Like waiting in car pool line or waiting at the dentist/doctor office.
You can see a picture of my Give Thanks Scripture cards here. This will give you an idea of what these will look like. I went to print them out this morning and ran out of ink.:(( I’ll add a picture when I get some ink.
Here are the areas I will be praying for my husband if you would like to join me and do the same.
