4 Smart Products Everybody Should have in their Home

April 3, 2020 By Barb Camp 6 Comments

Thank you, Joel Peterson, for this guide.

Smart technology is so popular right now and there are lots of great products out there that can make life so much easier for you. Smart tech can improve your life in a lot of different ways, but there are a lot of different products out there and you may not know where to start. If you want to upgrade your home with smart products but you don’t know which products are worth it and which ones aren’t, this guide will help you get started.

Second Chance to Dream: 4 Smart Home products everyone should have in their homes

Smart Thermostats

Smart thermostats are one of the best products out there if you want to save money and make your home more eco-friendly. You can control the thermostat with your phone so if you accidentally leave the heating on, it’s not a problem. When you are on the way home from work, you can switch the heating on so the house is nice and warm when you get in. The best smart thermostats have learning capabilities so, once you have been using it for a while, it will know when you normally have the heating on and it will switch it on and off automatically. You can still control it manually, but most of the time, you won’t need to. The thermostat will make slight adjustments to help you reduce your energy usage, so you can save quite a lot of money.

Smart Lights

Smart lights are another very popular product and they are great for helping you create a different atmosphere in your home at the touch of a button. You can dim the lights and change to lots of different colors at the touch of a button or even using a voice assistant. There are some great Lepro LED strip lights that are ideal for underneath the counters in your kitchen or around the edges of a room. Using different types of smart lights allows you to completely customize the lighting in a room which can completely transform a space.

Smart Alarms

Home security is so important and smart technology can help you to make your home safer. Smart alarms allow you to monitor cameras around the home remotely with your phone, and you will get alerts when somebody enters and exits the house. This is so good for home security and it is a good way to keep track of your kids if you are out of the house.

Voice Assistants

If you want to get the most out of your smart home tech, you need to invest in a voice assistant. There are a few different options out there, like the Google Home or Amazon Alexa. They all have their own pros and cons and each voice assistant is compatible with different products. It is important that you check the compatibility so you can make sure that your voice assistant will work seamlessly with the rest of your smart products.

These are the basic smart tech products that everybody should have in their home. There are plenty of others out there, but these will give you a good base to work from.

Hey, thanks! I see that you mention smart thermostats - that's awesome. By the way - according to Energy.gov, the best way to save money on heating bills is to set back the temperature of your home at least 8 degrees for 8 hours or longer. In fact, you can save 1% on your heating bill for every degree that you lower the thermostat :)

You write an informative article. After reading your article, I install the thermostat. It is beneficial to me. Now I can control AC without a remote. I can set a schedule. Thanks for your valuable recommendation. Joseph Browning recently posted...Best Home Care When You Re Not ThereMy Profile

Thank you for sharing. And as for home security, don't forget about video surveillance cameras. I recommend the wireless option. The thing is that wireless surveillance cameras are less susceptible to physical damage. Often intruders cut the wires of cameras to remain unidentified. In this case, it's excluded.

Good suggestions! I like such an option of a smart thermostat as temperature control when you are not at home. My house is empty most of the day since everyone is at work or school, so lowering the temperature while we are away helped greatly reduce heating bills. So, now we pay 20% less than we did before!!! In my opinion, this is a great result. But keep in mind, if you live in a cold climate, a strong drop in the house temperature can lead to frozen pipes. So, don't overdo it. Thank you for sharing such good content!
