Hi Everyone, I hope you had a wonderful Easter. We didn’t have a normal Easter this year because we were traveling home from Florida on Easter so we celebrated by ordering pizza. LOL! 🙂 I’m glad to y be home and get back into the swing of things.
I really like the project I’m sharing today. It’s a “Changing Seasons Sign”.
I bought this bare metal sign from Pick Your Plum a while ago and knew exactly what I wanted to do with it. It was of course Pick your Plum priced. Check out my sidebar for the link to their site to see the deal of the day..
I have saved various business magnets, not for the the business part but for the magnets. I knew I wanted to use them in this project. So I gathered all I had. One nice thing about these is that they are very easy to cut. You can also buy magnet sheets if you don’t have access to recycled ones.
I chose some paper I wanted to use.
Next I place each part of the sign on my paper and traced around each one and then cut them out.
I cut my words out of my Silhouette machine and added them to my paper.
I then ran them through my laminating machine to be able to reuse them. If you don’t have a laminating machine you can use contact paper.
After the laminatiing them I embellished them with flowers and ribbon.
Then I took my magnets and used adhesive to to adhere to the laminated paper.
Then hang and enjoy season after season.
For my Summer Fun sign I dug into my scrapbooking stash and found these stickers. I added them to the paper before laminating them.
I can then put the pieces and the ribbon in a Ziploc baggie and save for the next year. Hopefully, I’ll remember where I put therm. If I get sick of one, no biggie, the cost is so minimal to change..
I just had another idea you do could do. Make a birthday sign for each of your children and hang on their special day. You can personalize the embellishments to your child’s interest.
Keep your eyes open for a metal sign and get creating! But WAIT!! Why couldn’t you use wood and Velcro in the same way you would the metal sign and magnets. Let your mind go! You don’t have to be discouraged if you can’t find a metal sign.
