I saw this quote on Facebook on the danger of comparisons, the other day and it really got my mind spinning.
I fully agree with this quote. I see it all the time. I take my yuck and compare it to your very best and then I wallow in it until I can barely move until I’m stuck. I can get stuck for hours, days, weeks and years. And I have been stuck for years. What areas can I get stuck comparing myself in? The, “Your kids are better behaved than mine”, “Your house is cleaner than mine”, “You’re skinnier than I am”, “I can’t do ____________ as well as you can”, “You’re a better Christian than I am” (as if that’s even possible, since it had nothing to do with any of us!). Oh my, I could go on and on. The comparisons are never ending if I let them be.
It then got me thinking what would happen if I truly believed what God says about me? Would I feel the need to compare myself to others? How different would my life be? Would I have peace like He says I can have? Would my joy be overflowing?
God, what do you say about me??
