I was in Jo-Ann Fabrics yesterday and while I was there I ran across some t shirts and tanks 5/$10. I also found some $6.00 embellishments on clearance for .97 and 1.97. My mind got to spinning and I thought, hmm… I could make a few tank tops for summer very inexpensively. So, I bought 3 tanks.
And some embellishments
This was a very easy process.
The black zippered embellishment was an iron on art piece so that was easy. I got my black tank and pinned my embellishment onto the tank.
Turned it inside out and ironed it onto the shirt.
And here is me wearing the shirt.
I love it! I can wear it with most anything. Skirt, capri’s, jeans or shorts.
For the other two shirts I did I had to add fusible tape to the back of the embellishment to get it to iron on and not have to sew. I’m lazy like that. It looks like this:
Turn over your embellishment and cut the tape in strips the size of the embellishment. Carefully flip it over and pin. Turn it inside out and iron the embellishment like the one shown above..
Here are the other two shirts finished:
And my brown one. (Sorry, I realize my brown picture is the one with pins, but we can just pretend they aren’t there. 🙂 )
I’m all set with basic tanks for the summer. My total bill for all 3 shirts and 3 embellishments was 10.52. Pretty awesome if I say so myself. Have you found any fun, inexpensive ways to embellish your shirts?
